I have put together some mock ups of my business card, just paper mock ups to check the size and readability of my business card. Overall it all works, the card pulls out revealing my skills, which is important. My contact information is obvious although the email is a little small but that can be adjusted. Overall i am very happy with the design and its function. The function and format work well to create an interactive business card that will engage the viewer and hopefully deliver the information in an appropriate way.
I have put together a new portfolio, representing myself a little bit more. I had a brain wave a week or so ago and decided type is where i want to be so i tried to get my portfolio to be as typed based as possible. Now i know thats where i want to be, i am going to try and do some more briefs relating to type so that i can showcase my skills in an even better light. I will be using this sample portfolio to email to companies. Its a small file and very specific, my idea was to just create a taster of what i am about.

Today I rang up me&em designs in order to get the creative directors information, and they were actually very rude to me. So I have decided to leave them because I don’t really want to go visit somewhere where they are rude to you over the phone. I appreciate they are busy, but I don’t think there’s any need to get aggressive.
I heard back from 23ccc today, which was good so now I can send my email with my portfolio attached to it. I am also going to drop in and give them their birthday card.
I have designed some birthday cards for 23ccc, this is to celebrate another successful year for the company. I thought this would be a nice idea because it would make me a little more appealing to them. I decided to keep it type related because they do a lot of work around type, hopefully they will like the designs I have done.
I wanted it to be something that they could put up on their wall, just as a little memento for them to remember me by.
This is the birthday card I have decided to use, i really like the colour because it links with their website. its clean sophisticated and crisp.
I have put together some layouts for my new business card, I have decided to create it in conjunction with the portfolio together, so that it all links. This is just an idea to create it, its simple and interactive which will engage the audience that little bit more. I am thinking a lot about appropriate stock for this, and one idea is to try and get it printed onto a thin piece of wood and have it all etched out, but that's just an idea i will need to speak with the laser cut instructors before i can develop this idea. For now i am going to print on the stock available, just as an outline.

Leeds loves creative brief..
As i intend to visit these studios and places, as a thank you i have come up with an idea that will make them remember me and also hopefully make them happy. I have decided to use my branding and brand myself on a biscuit. The idea is to have a biscuit with my brand on and have it packaged so the packaging has information about myself on it and contact details. This way it shows to them that i am willing to put effort in, It shows the hand made approach and they know i can bake! So today i did some test runs on how the biscuits would look. They are a work in progress but i am happy with the concept, and hopefully my prospective employers will enjoy them.
This has helped me realise a few things:
Biscuits need to be deeper
Maybe find a way to stencil on filling
also now i need to work out the packaging.
