After my second year, I feel my engagement with the course is excellent. After my presentation I feel I now have a clear oath that I want to take on for my 3rd year. Everything has come together clearly for me, and I feel I can engage with the course in a more productive and beneficial way. My research skills still need improving, but I feel I am making it more relevant to my practice, especially as I now have a more specific area to focus myself in. As for software my skills have improved throughout the year and I defiantly feel more confident in working in the software needed to push my design practice.
My critical skills have defiantly improved this year, and I fully intend to use them to push my dissertation next year. I will defiantly need support in the structure, as that is my weakest area but as for content I feel that it my main strength. I will need to improve my researching skills for my dissertation, but that will happen as the summer goes on.
As for my professional practice there is a lot I still need to improve, but I know my 3rd year is going to help me create the work and confidence needed to have a strong professional practice.
There are a lot of skills I am going to aim to improve over the summer and next year, some are specific and some general. All of these things taken into account early, will help me focus specific outcomes I want by the end of next year. I think the evaluation I did in my presentation of my design practice has helped me realise my weaknesses and so now I have a more focused area of strengths.
Finally, the outcome and work I want to produce next year I want it mostly to evolve around design for print. This is something I really enjoy and working with type deems to go hand in hand. I have realised that illustration isn’t my strong point so I do not feel worried about cutting my loses with it. As for design for screen I am still unsure about this as I feel my skills in this area are not adequate enough for me to comfortably establish what I want to do with it.
