The Mint

The Mint
Situated on Sweet Street in the southern corner of the urban village, The Mint offers Grade A office space over seven floors.
The building also boasts a full height atrium and entrance hall leading to public amenity space.
This 115,000 sq ft development incorporates a large allocation of parking including secure cycle parks at basement level. This eco-conscious development lives up to its BREEAM excellent rating, using solar panels to provide energy for a domestic hot water and heating system.
Office workers also benefit from an excellent location at the end of the M621 motorway and just five minutes walk from the city centre and railway station with regular trains direct to London, Manchester and Glasgow.
The ground floor of the development offers opportunities for restaurants, bars and cafes serving the area’s growing business population, centred around a landscaped public square.

Location - Marshall Mill

Marshall’s Mill
Comprising of the self-contained Marshall’s Court and the main Marshall’s Mill building, this development offers some of the largest floor plates in the urban village on flexible terms allowing you to up or downsize, with minimum effort.
The impressive Grade II Listed Mill building was refurbished extensively in 2001 and can offer commercial office space from 3,960 sq.ft up to 9,085 sq.ft. From the contemporary reception area to open and airy suites, the original character of the mill buildings come through ready for your company to create its own individual space.  This historic space is now home to a mix of creative, digital and design agencies and public sector services.
The neighbouring Marshall’s Court building was once a warehouse for the flax and textile industry that grew up in Holbeck. Offering three floors of self contained office space, this building can be let as a whole or as smaller units starting from just 1,193 sq. ft on flexible terms.
The Marshall’s Mill complex is owned and managed by Igloo Regeneration who plan to retain and further renovate Marshall’s Mill and Marshall’s Court.  Future plans include a major new regeneration scheme utilising land around Marshalls Mill to create a new neighbourhood with a mix of residential, business space, offices, workshops, cafes, galleries and small local retail. This will turn currently unused land into a creative, environmentally sustainable new addition to the already established communities in Marshalls Mill and Round Foundry.
Igloo Regeneration are strongly committed to supporting the arts and cultural industries in the area. In 2004 local artist Antonia Stowe was commissioned to develop a permanent sculpture reflecting the areas history and heritage. The Holbeck sheep now stands guard over the mill, which plays host to networking events and has provided a series of artists residencies over recent months.

Sooo...
I have emailed a variety of companies and I am still waiting to hear from them. I have stagard my emails so that i have more control over when they contact and visits etc. I have put together my portfolio, the birthday card for 23ccc and my business cards. So I am prepared to hear from the companies.
I also managed to speak with my sister over the weekend and she has some contacts in London, well the graphic designers that work for her who is a close friend and she is going to forward my details to get into contact with them. This is great because it means if i do get a placement with them i will be able to stay with my sister, she also said that she would get in contact with other designers she knows and hopefully i will be able to get some more visits down in London.

Emails

Friday, 1 April 2011

I have put together a skeleton email that I intend to use to email some of the companies I am interested in visiting over the next few weeks, or the summer period. I didn’t want to put too much information in them because I wanted it to be quite a short email, and then later we could discuss my work further. Hopefully I will get some feedback from these companies. If not I do plan to follow up with phone calls.
